Stanford Advisory Council
The Advisory Council guides the partnership Hub at Stanford, helping to sharpen our strategies for scaling and increasing our engagement across the university’s schools.
Steven A. Denning
Chair, NatCap Stanford Advisory Council; General Atlantic
Steve Denning is Chairman of General Atlantic, LLC and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Stanford University. He is also former Co-chair of The Nature Conservancy, and on the boards of the Council on Foreign Relations and The Bridgespan Group.
William F. Meehan III
Co-Chair, NatCap Stanford Advisory Council; Stanford University
Bill Meehan III is the Lafayette Partners Lecturer in Strategic Management at Stanford’s GSB and a Director Emeritus of McKinsey & Co. At Stanford, he also is a founding member of the Advisory Council of the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society, a faculty member of the Public Management Program and the Center for Social Innovation, and a member of the Arts Advisory Council.
Charles J. Katz, Jr.
Co-Chair, NatCap Stanford Advisory Council; Katz Family Ventures
Chuck Katz manages family investments. Previously, he practiced law at Perkins Coie, Seattle, and then served as Executive Vice President of Opsware, Inc. He is former board member of REI, Inc.
Matthew R. Barger
Matt Barger is the managing member of MRB Capital, LLC and a senior advisor at Hellman & Friedman, LLC. Matt serves on the Board of Directors of Hall Capital Partners LLC and Artisan Partners Asset Management. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the California Academy of Sciences.
Peter S. Bing
Peter Bing is former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, former Trustee, and current volunteer for Stanford University.
Gretchen C. Daily
Gretchen Daily is Bing Professor of Environmental Science, Senior Fellow of the Woods Institute and Director of the Center for Conservation Biology at Stanford University. She is co-founder and co-director of The Natural Capital Project.
New Energy Risk
Tom Dickson serves as Chief Executive Officer of New Energy Risk, Inc. and as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Haverford Capital Partners (Cayman) Limited. Tom was formerly the CUO and CEO of Centre Solutions.
Christopher B. Field
Chris Field is the Perry L. McCarty Director of the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment. Previously, Field served as co-chair of Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and also as founding director of the Carnegie Institution for Science’s Dept. of Global Ecology.
Andy Karsner is Managing Partner of The Emerson Collective, Senior Strategist and Space Cowboy at Google X; and Founder and Executive Chairman of Manifest Energy. Previously, he served as US Assistant Secretary of Energy for Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
Tom Hutton is the Managing Partner of XL Innovate. He is the past CEO of Risk Management Solutions, White Mountains Re and New Energy Risk. One of his current projects is developing Climassure, providing insurance and mitigation solutions for risks from climate change and volatility.
Jeffrey R. Koseff
Jeff Koseff is William Alden Campbell and Martha Campbell Professor in the School of Engineering and founding co-director of the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment.
Bob Litterman is a founding partner at Kepos Capital and chairs their Risk Committee. Bob was a partner at Goldman-Sachs & Co, where he was head of the firm-wide risk function. He serves on the boards of Climate Central, Commonfund, Resources for the Future, and the Sloan Foundation.
The Paulson Institute
Rose Niu is Chief Conservation Officer at the Paulson Institute. Earlier, she was Managing Director of China Programs at World Wildlife Fund-US; prior to that, she founded the China program at The Nature Conservancy.
Thomas A. Patterson
Madrone Capital Partners
Tom Patterson is a General Partner at Madrone Capital Partners, focused on investments in founder/family owned businesses, the emerging middle class in China and Brazil, and clean energy technology.
The Natural Capital Project
Mary Ruckelshaus is Managing Director of the Natural Capital Project. Previously she led the Ecosystem Science Program at NOAA’s NW Fisheries Science Center, and was Assistant Professor at The Florida State University.
Roger W. Sant
Roger Sant is co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of The AES Corporation, a Fortune 200 company that generates and distributes electrical power. He is also co-founder and Chairman, The Summit Foundation, supporting international empowerment of girls, restoration of the Mesoamerican Reef ecosystem, and the sustainability of cities in the United States.
Bill Veghte is Executive Chairman of Turbonomic. Previously, he was CEO of Survey Monkey, the Chief Operating Officer for Hewlett Packard, and the EVP of Microsoft’s Enterprise Business.
AME Cloud Ventures
Jerry Yang is founder of AME Cloud Ventures, and founder and past CEO of Yahoo! Jerry serves on the boards of Stanford University, Alibaba, Workday and Lenovo, and as senior adviser and board observer of Didi Chuxing. He is a member of the Committee of 100 and the Council on Foreign Relations.
