Baolong Han
Baolong is an Associate Professor at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He works as the Urban Program Director of the CAS-based NatCap team. He leads the development of the Chinese urban ecosystem assessment platform, which is the core engine of Easy GEP (a Chinese Gross Ecosystem Product accounting system) and is used for urban planning and governance evaluation. As an education committee member of the Ecological Society of China and a scientific consulting member for the Ecology and Environmental channel (Chinese digital channel), he works closely with NGOs, such as TNC and WWF, to organize non-profit ecological training for children and adults. Baolong focuses on modeling urban natural-social- economic coupled-ecosystems and their optimization. His research sites are mainly located at high-speed urbanization areas, such as Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao bay area, Zhejiang province and some big cities, such as Beijing, Shenzhen, Kunming. He believes working with government officers, city planners, and NGOs partners can help ecological research be more practical. Baolong earned his Ph.D. in Ecology from RCEES, CAS, and has a master degree in Economics, and a bachelor degree in Mathematics.
