Julian Olaya
Julian is a postdoctoral scholar at the Natural Capital Project, based at Stanford. His research focuses on generating information to support conservation programs and sustainable environmental management. He employs analytical techniques from both the natural sciences (biostatistics and bioinformatics) and the social sciences (network analysis and citizen science) to address the complex relationships of socio-ecological systems. Julian holds a PhD in Zoology from the Universidade Federal do ParanĂ¡, where he studied biological, social, and management connectivity among marine protected areas in Brazil. He also holds an M.Sc. in EMBC Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from Ghent University in Belgium, and a B.Sc. in Biology from the Universidad de Antioquia in Colombia.
