Zhaowei Ding

Zhaowei (she/her/hers) is a postdoctoral scholar working with NatCap on the benefits of protected areas and catchment conservation for hydropower in the Andes-Amazon Region. Specifically, her research explores opportunities for improving hydropower generation, operations and maintenance under climate, and land-use change through leveraging catchment ecosystem services. Zhaowei is very interested in investigating hydrological, ecological, and social process as drivers behind the ecological management on catchment scales. Zhaowei obtained her Ph.D. in Ecological at the Research Center for Eco-environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. During her Ph.D. time, she focused on modeling the comprehensive hydrological process of nutrients and sediment delivery across watersheds, analyzing the complex social-ecological interactions in watershed ecological policy implementation and conducting ecological restoration framework in Yangtze River Basin, China. She holds an M.Sc. in physical geography from Beijing Normal University, China; and a B.Sc. in Urban and Regional Planning from Beijing Forestry University, China.
